Actor John Goodman has been injured while on set for Warner Bros and Legendary’s new Alejandro González Iñárritu movie.
The 72-year-old sustained a hip injury while at Pinewood Studios in the UK, where he had been preparing for the currently unnamed film alongside Tom Cruise. It is understood the film was not shooting when the injury occurred and the actor had been blocking a scene. He was taken to hospital for what has been reported as a “minor injury” while production was stopped for two days.
Warner Bros Pictures has said shooting will continue next week after John has recovered from his hip injury. A spokesperson told Deadline: Actor John Goodman experienced a hip injury. He received immediate medical attention that led to a brief delay in shooting to allow him time to recover.
“The production resumes shooting next week following Johns full recovery.
IMDb describes the untitled movie as: The most powerful man in the world causes a disaster and embarks on a mission to prove that he is the savior of humanity.
Oscar-winning director Alejandro Gonzalez Inarritu is at the helm of this project, marking his first English language film since Oscar-winning The Revenant in 2015. Inarritu co-wrote the script last year with Nicolas Giacobone and Alexander Dinelaris, his partners from the 2014 hit Birdman, and Sabina Berman.
Alejandro Gonzalez Inarritu’s upcoming film is generating buzz with an October 2026 launch date. Riding high off the success of Birdman, which clinched four Oscars, including Best Picture, and saw Michael Keaton in the running for Best Actor, Inarritu basked in success again with The Revenant, bestowing him a second golden statuette for directing and Leonardo DiCaprio one for acting, on top of the cinematographic honors.
