Anne Hathaway and Josh Hartnett Begin Filming Verity in New York City
Anne Hathaway and Josh Hartnett are officially on set for the highly anticipated film adaptation of Verity! The psychological thriller, based on Colleen Hoover’s best-selling novel, is set to bring intense suspense to the screen. Hathaway, 42, stars as Verity Crawford, a successful author, while Hartnett, 46, plays her husband, Jeremy Crawford.
In one exciting scene, the on-screen couple is seen dressed in semi-formal attire, joyfully running through the streets of New York City while holding hands. Hartnett leads the way, his bow tie casually hanging undone, while Hathaway holds her belongings in her free hand, radiating a sense of camaraderie between the two.
The announcement of Hathaway’s casting as Verity was made in November 2024, followed by Hartnett’s casting the next month. Dakota Johnson, who is also executive producing the movie through Amazon MGM Studios, will star as Lowen, a struggling writer who is offered the “job of a lifetime” to complete Verity’s successful series after a mysterious accident leaves Verity unable to finish her work.
In August 2024, Hoover, the author of It Ends With Us, spoke about her excitement for the Verity adaptation at the premiere of her first book-to-movie project. “Right now, they’re all just blurs in my head, but I’m so excited that this one’s finally starting to take off,” she shared with The Hollywood Reporter.
Verity, originally self-published in 2018, follows Lowen as she uncovers dark family secrets upon accepting a job to finish Verity’s series. The story takes a chilling turn as Lowen discovers an unfinished manuscript that may hold unsettling revelations about the Crawford family’s past. As she becomes more involved with Jeremy and his son, Crew, Lowen must decide if Verity’s writings are merely fictional or a terrifying glimpse into the mind of a psychopath.
The film is poised to keep audiences on the edge of their seats, with its release eagerly anticipated.
