Selena Gomez and Benny Blanco Take Wedding Planning ‘One Day at a Time’ Amid Upcoming Album Release
Selena Gomez and Benny Blanco, recently engaged, shared their thoughts on wedding planning, their upcoming album I Said I Love You First, and more in an interview with Rolling Stone published on March 17.
Blanco, 37, revealed that while Gomez has a variety of wedding ideas in mind, the couple is taking a relaxed approach to planning. “I think every day she’s planned a new wedding in her head,” he said. “We’re very much ‘take it one day at a time’-type of people. We’re still not over this moment. Literally, while you were talking, she was sitting there staring at her ring.”
Gomez, 32, added, “I genuinely feel like this is such a special time that we get to apply it to this album and really just pour our heart into it. That’s my main focus right now, at least.”
In December 2024, Gomez announced her engagement to Blanco, who proposed with a six-carat marquise diamond ring during a romantic picnic with Taco Bell. Blanco explained that the simplicity of the proposal felt perfectly fitting for their relationship: “There’s not this whole elaborate thing. I think we’re very lucky to be surrounded by such great people, and we’ve still just been enjoying so much,” he shared.
The couple’s new collaborative album is set for release on March 21. Gomez reflected on the therapeutic nature of their creative process: “I was frustrated and confused on where I wanted to go next musically. I would confide in him, and then we’d create it together,” she said. Blanco added that their sessions were cathartic: “She’d wake up, I’d have a pen out, and I’d write what was on her mind. Then we’d go into the other room and create it, and it became a song.”
The couple’s bond continues to grow, both professionally and personally, as they focus on their music and future together.
