HOUSTON — June 28, 2025 — The Chicago Cubs made a thunderous statement on Saturday night, steamrolling the Houston Astros 12–3 in a dominating road victory that showcased both their offensive firepower and team chemistry.

This blowout win didn’t just add another “W” to the Cubs’ season — it delivered a clear message: this lineup is locked in and hungry for October.

From the first inning, the Cubs seized control. Led by a multi-hit night from emerging star Pete Crow-Armstrong, Chicago exploded for runs in bunches — including a 5-run fifth inning that broke the game wide open.

The entire lineup contributed, with six players recording RBIs and four tallying multi-hit performances. The Cubs finished the night with 15 hits, consistently punishing Astros pitching and never letting up.

“We’re seeing the ball well right now and playing loose,” said Crow-Armstrong postgame. “When this group gets hot, we believe we can beat anybody in the league.”

While the offense grabbed the headlines, the Cubs’ pitching staff was equally effective. Starter Jameson Taillon threw six strong innings, allowing just two earned runs while striking out five. The bullpen held firm, closing the door on any hope of a Houston rally.

Manager Craig Counsell praised the complete team effort:

“It’s the kind of game you love to see. Our guys were aggressive, smart, and relentless from pitch one to the final out.”

With the win, the Cubs improved their record to 45–35, maintaining their push in the tight National League Central division race. The victory over a playoff-caliber opponent like Houston adds another quality win to their resumé and continues a strong June stretch.

Meanwhile, the Astros, who had been gaining momentum in the AL West, were left stunned by the Cubs’ offensive barrage and will look to bounce back in the next game of the series.

With young stars stepping up and veterans delivering when it counts, this team looks more and more like a serious contender with each passing series.
