Identical Twins Face Off in NFL Game This Weekend: A Rare Matchup Not Seen for the First Time! .Linh

Fans may find themselves seeing double this football Sunday.

Identical twins Sydney Brown, a safety on the Philadelphia Eagles, and Cincinnati Bengals running back Chase Brown are facing off on the field on Sunday, Oct. 27. The Canadian brothers, 24, were born just two minutes apart, per CBS Sports.

“I’m excited for it because it’s been something that we’ve been looking forward to since we were little kids,” Sydney said the week before he played Chase’s team in the NFL Week 8 game. “It’s surreal, but we expected it. We worked for it, and it’s going to be cool to have that moment with him on the field.”

Though the twins are very close, CBS Sports reported that they stopped talking on Tuesday ahead of the game, cutting off communication. After the game, it will be business as usual.

Their mom, Raechel Brown, is hoping for a tie. “That would be the best-case scenario. That would make me happy. I didn’t know much about the NFL. I thought the only time they would play against each other would be in the Super Bowl, and those odds are so low,” she said.

“But every four years, this thing is going to be the biggest rivalry in our family,” Raechel added. “Whoever wins is going to be bragging for four years.”

This isn’t the first time identical twins appeared on the football field together.

In 2006, cornerback Ronde Barber of the Tampa Bay Buccaneers faced his twin, New York Giants running back Tiki Barber — even getting a tackle on his sibling. Following the game, Ronde, 49, said he was relieved their face-offs were over.

“I’m glad it’s over,” he said in October 2006, per the Tampa Bay Times. “I actually didn’t like it. It’s a nice side note, a caveat to have, but I was ready for it to be over at the start of the game. For whatever reason, it just doesn’t feel like the same — me playing against him. So thank God this one’s over.”

He also mentioned how his twin kept things civil while on the field. “Tiki doesn’t mouth off,” Ronde said at the time. “Tiki kills you with kindness. He talks sweet to you and runs around you.”

Devin and Jason McCourty, 36, were both on the same team — the New England Patriots — for the 2018 Super Bowl, becoming the first set of twins to play in the championship game. They both played football in college for Rutgers University.

“It’s very unique to have someone that close to you share the same experiences. That you can call on during good times and bad times,” Devin told USA Today in 2023, ahead of brothers Travis and Jason Kelce facing off in the Super Bowl that year. “Especially when you can share in each other’s success.”

Both cornerbacks, Devin was on the Patriots for his entire football career, while Jason was on the Tennessee Titans, the Cleveland Browns, the Patriots (with his brother from 2018–2020), before ending his career with the Miami Dolphins.

The siblings faced off in 2012 when Jason was on the Titans, per NJ.com, as well as during the 2021 season opener as respective captains of the Patriots and Dolphins, ESPN reported.
