US President Donald Trump said he felt very bad about Israel’s airstrike on Qatar – an important US ally in the Middle East, noting that it was Tel Aviv’s decision and had nothing to do with him.

On September 9, US President Donald Trump said he felt “very bad” about the Israeli airstrike on the Hamas headquarters in the capital Doha (Qatar).

Mr. Trump emphasized that this was the decision of Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, not his.

In a message posted on the social network Truth Social, Mr. Trump made it clear that Israel’s airstrike on Qatar – a sovereign country and close ally of the US, which is trying to mediate – does not serve the interests of Israel or the US. However, Mr. Trump said that eliminating Hamas is a reasonable goal.

Israel không kích Qatar

Trump said he immediately instructed Special Envoy Steve Witkoff to inform Qatar about the attack, but “unfortunately, it was too late to stop it.” He affirmed that Qatar is a strong ally and friend of the United States, and expressed regret about the location of the attack.

The US President also emphasized the desire for all hostages and the bodies of the victims to be repatriated, and called for an immediate end to the war. He spoke with Netanyahu after the incident, saying that the Israeli Prime Minister expressed his desire for peace.

Trump said that this unfortunate incident could become an opportunity to promote peace.

At the same time, he also spoke with the Emir and Prime Minister of Qatar, thanking the country for its support and friendship to the United States, and pledging that similar incidents would not happen again on Qatari soil. Trump said he had instructed US Secretary of State Marco Rubio to finalize the Defense Cooperation Agreement with Qatar.

After the attack, many Western countries simultaneously spoke out against Tel Aviv’s actions, according to CNN.

British Prime Minister Keir Starmer called this a dangerous act that could escalate tensions in the region, and expressed condolences for the death of a Qatari security officer.

French President Emmanuel Macron called the attack “unacceptable” and expressed solidarity with Qatar.

Irish Prime Minister Micheál Martin warned that the incident could destabilize and hinder the ceasefire in Gaza.

The European Union (EU) emphasized solidarity with Qatar, a strategic partner, and called for avoiding any escalation in Gaza.

In addition, countries such as Germany, Italy, Spain, Portugal, Canada, and Pope Leo XIV, … also condemned Israel.
