NEW YORK — Just when the doubters began to murmur, the New York Yankees answered with a roar.

FINAL: Yankees 3, A's 0.

The Bronx Bombers snapped their slump and shut down the Oakland Athletics 3–0 at Yankee Stadium on Friday night, riding a masterclass from rookie starter Will Warren, who tossed five shutout innings with seven strikeouts. Backed by a bullpen that refused to bend, New York earned its ninth shutout of the season—tied for the most in the American League.

The offense wasn’t flashy, but it was effective. Jazz Chisholm Jr. launched a solo home run in the second inning—his 500th MLB game—and the celebration was unmistakable. “It’s a blessing to hit that kind of milestone and contribute in a win like this,” Chisholm told reporters postgame.

The Yankees added on with a sharp RBI single from Cody Bellinger in the third inning after Aaron Judge was intentionally walked, and DJ LeMahieu padded the lead in the fourth on a slick infield hit that the A’s couldn’t handle cleanly.

“We made the most of what we had at the plate, but tonight was about the pitching,” manager Aaron Boone said. “Will set the tone, and the ‘pen was lights-out.”

Indeed, after Warren exited with 95 pitches, the combination of Tim Hill, Fernando Cruz, Luke Weaver, and Devin Williams locked things down across four no-hit innings. Williams struck out two in the ninth to secure the save.

The win improves the Yankees to 47–34, a critical bounce-back after losing seven of their last eight. Despite the recent slump, the shutout keeps them firmly in contention in a tightly packed AL East race.
